Polly, a 4 year old Cane Corso Mastiff, was dropped off at a local city kill shelter in Austin, TX at the request of her breeder and owner. Thank goodness the shelter took one look at her and suspected that she might be a mastiff (the person that dropped her off lied about where she came from, claimed to not know what breed she was, and claimed to have "found her"). Her foster family immediately went down to the shelter to ID her as a Corso and found her having recently had puppies, nearly 20lbs underweight with her backbone and hip bones clearly visible, and fly bites all over her body. She was vetted, given a clean bill of health, and sent home with the foster family. Polly is an absolutely wonderful dog. She has drive that her foster family has never seen in a Corso. She will fetch a ball until you stop throwing it. Her fetch is perfect! She brings it directly back to you and waits for you to throw it again. She knows her basic commands, enjoys walking on a leash, and will come immediately when called. She was definitely kept in an outdoor kennel before moving into her foster family's home, but she has had NO accidents in the house since being in foster care. She wants nothing but to please and she will do just that! Polly will only be placed in a home with older kids and because of her high drive, she will NOT be considered for a home with cats. Whomever adopts Polly will be one very, very lucky family!
